Some people are jealous. Sometimes the reaction to jealousy is to try to tear down the object of the jealousy as a solution. Multiply that jealousy into a general and pronounced world view and that type of personality is driven insane when seeing others do well. It is the worst kind of inferiority.

We’ve all seen the type. The put-down artist, the ridiculer, the mean bully. What’s behind it? TERROR – terror of others. Their solution – attack (attack the hallucinatory source of their terror).

There are really two types. The very worst are the quiet ones, the ones hard to detect working behind the scenes to harm and getting others to do their bidding. There are of course the obvious ones like the Hitlers and the Bin Ladens. Also, unfortunately, there are the larger numbers of those influenced by these types of terrorized minds as we saw in the mass hysteria in Germany in the 30’s and 40’s and today in the suicide bombers and other followers of terrorists.

The cyber-terrorists and others who attack Scientology simply are one of the two types. Since Scientology helps make people stronger and live better lives, this makes the inferior feeling, internally twisted/terrorized personality go wild and thus the attacks with any kind of lie against this group that helps so many get stronger.

Others getting stronger is the worst outcome for this type of personality, so in their twisted minds, it must be stopped, lied about, slandered and libeled. This personality then lies further to try to create mass hysteria through every possible avenue.

Think for yourself. How can Scientology have grown so much and have so many praise it if there wasn't something of value there? Buy one or go to the library and actually read a book by Mr. Hubbard. See for yourself and then, on your own, accept or reject the value or lack of value in this subject.

Criticism of Scientology

As a Scientologist who has benefited greatly from my almost 40 years involved with the Church I'm always amazed at those who criticize Scientology. Sometimes you can excuse it as ignorance, sometimes as a result of "data" someone other than a Scientologist portrays as factual. It's kind of like the kid's game of telephone where the original fact gets altered as the communication goes from person to person. It also may be that the first data spread is a lie and that gets altered.

Here's what one can do to see what the facts are. Read the original! Read some of Hubbard's books and see if they make sense. Also, look and think for yourself. There is an interesting bit of knowledge in The Way to Happiness by Mr. Hubbard on the chapter, "Be Competent."

It says: "Look. See what you see, not what someone tells you that you see. What you observe is what you observe. Look at things and life and others directly, not through any cloud of prejudice, curtain of fear or the interpretation of another."

That's good advice for any subject and for life but certainly would apply to Scientology. Get books on Scientology by Mr. Hubbard and read for yourself and don't cloud your observation with the prejudice, fears and interpretations of others.

Scientology should be met with tolerance

Here's an article/letter to the editor of Variety Magazine from Bert Fields, one of the top Hollywood lawyers about Scientology

VARIETY

Posted: Mon., Feb. 11, 2008, 2:00pm PT
Scientology should be met with tolerance
Letter to the editor
By BERTRAM FIELDS
Dear Peter, I was disappointed by your recent column on Scientology and Tom Cruise. You say some things that are surprising coming from a man of your intelligence and education. You seem to recognize that, in America, we are all supposed to be free to practice -- and even preach -- the religion of our choice. Then, you appear to deny this fundamental right to Scientologists because of "their beliefs and protocols." You add "To be a Scientologist is not like being a Lutheran." Evidently you mean that Scientology's "beliefs and protocols" are less worthy and make it a "cult," rather than a valid religion deserving of protection.
Yet, when Lutheranism began, it was also branded a heretical cult, and its adherents were massacred and burned at the stake for their beliefs.
Indeed, in its early days, Christianity was reviled as an evil and heretical cult. Remember, its leader was crucified.
And, when their religions were in their early phases of development, Mormons and Christian Scientists were condemned as practitioners of dangerous, cult-like beliefs.
History tells us that every new religion has been greeted with disdain, discrimination and often murderous rage by its more established predecessors.
You ridicule as bizarre what Andrew Morton falsely describes as the core beliefs of Scientologists -- what you call their "beliefs and protocols." You suggest that these are wild fantasies, rather than legitimate religious tenets.
Oh? How about creating Eve from Adam's rib, or the Red Sea parting for the children of Israel, or God speaking to Moses from a burning bush or Jonah living in a whale.
How about Christ rising from the dead or walking on water? How about Catholic children being taught that, in taking Holy Communion, they are eating Christ's flesh and blood?
Then there's the Angel Moroni's descent into upstate New York to show Joseph Smith the buried golden tablets on which the Book of Mormon is based.
I do not mean to ridicule these beliefs. They are widely held by Jews and Christians of all denominations. I cite them only to illustrate that every religion has some "beliefs and protocols" that may defy modern scientific thinking. But you and Morton single out for ridicule the beliefs he incorrectly attributes to Scientologists, as if "legitimate" religions believe only in things consistent with contemporary physics and biology.
I expect this of Morton. His book is replete with bigoted and demonstrable lies -- and tired, old lies at that. It manages to be both bogus and boring at the same time.
I expect more of you. I expect that singular hallmark of intelligent and educated people ... tolerance.
As to Tom Cruise, he is more than a Scientologist, just as I am more than a Jew and Barack Obama and John McCain are more than Christians. Tom is a loving husband, a devoted father, a hard working, dedicated actor and producer, and, as anyone who knows him will tell you, a fine, decent, generous man. He deserves better from you.
You have my permission to publish this letter, but only in its entirety, so that the context is not lost.
Sincerely,Bertram FieldsLaw Offices of Greenberg Glusker Fields Claman & Machtinger LLP

Scientology - Controversy?

Interesting, I've been reading The Scientology book Advanced Procedures and Axioms by L. Ron Hubbard. Great information especially about efforts and counter efforts. So this brought up the so called controversy about Scientology which I am now understanding. In the book there's lots of information about destructive and constructive personalities.

Unfortunately, there are those who oppose betterment activities because of the misguided motivation that to survive they've got to keep others down. Unfortunately, individuals like this could be intelligent and well spoken but they run their lives from the viewpoint that "if others are strong, I wouldn't succeed." This sad state of affairs of this type of individual is behind the controversy of Scientology. Something that truly helps like Scientology drives this kind of personality wild so they set up web sites, spread rumors and worse since Scientology really helps people - what could be worse for the dominating, nullifying personality than his/her victims getting strong and better?

Think for yourself. Also see the press release from The Citizens Commission on Human Rights.

INHUMAN BEINGS - The Chemicalized Personality

A mother murders her five children. High school students massacre their classmates. An Iraq vet stabs his wife 71 times. How can this happen?A common thread in these occurrences is the fact that the killers have been taking psychiatric medications. But that is too simple. So we hear about “post-partum depression” and “combat stress.” In the case of the teens, it's “the breakdown of the family" or it’s the music, the movies, the video games. The real answer is the dehumanizing effect of drugs.

A human being has more than one aspect. There is a definite electro-chemical component. The body physically functions via electro-chemical processes. Then there is that aspect which perceives and reasons and creates. This is not electro-chemical. When people communicate with each other, it is not chemical molecules that are exchanging ideas. This is the spiritual aspect; the conscious, aware individual. There is also a mental component—a mind—which is an interactive link between the reasoning factor and the physical. A healthy mind (motivated by the spirit) is analytical. A less healthy mind is less analytical and more and more reactive. It operates on a stimulus/response basis, motivated by random factors. A troubled, unhealthy mind doesn't reason. It doesn't perceive well. It reacts to stimuli.

For a long time now, the mental health establishment has been telling us that we are chemical in nature. They would have us believe that they can solve our problems with mood-altering drugs—a little dash of this and a little dash of that. That approach may work at the purely physical level, as in taking antibiotics to handle infection, but it is not the physical component that gives us our rationality, our humanity. It is not the molecules in the brain that are thinking and perceiving, loving and caring, creating great music and poetry. No, the physical component is comprised of cells and electrical impulses, which are as reasoning and creative as an avocado or the electric current that powers your toaster.

When a person is troubled, he is already sliding in the direction of the reactive, unthinking, physical impulse side of his nature. To then give him chemical, mood-altering drugs, pushes him further in that direction. While the sedative effect may appear to calm him down, he is becoming, more and more chemicalized.

So is it any wonder that these killers seem less than human? They ARE less than human. Though they can appear bright and calculating at times, real judgment is gone. They are completely reactive; alienated. Their minds bubble and boil like the mass of chemicals they have become. The analytical capacity is gone. The spirit is gone. Their humanity is gone. They respond randomly and literally to stimuli (enter music, movies and video games). Then, in the extreme, they lash out with violence at the imagined demons and enemies in their own unreal world. They have been mentally short-circuited by the drugs that are supposed to be helping them. It is the ultimate betrayal.

And when their bizarre, chemically induced, nightmare world collides with the world of OUR reality—which consists of living people, loving families, children, teachers, learning, accomplishment—a slaughter ensues and we are left to wonder "WHY?" "WHAT HAPPENED?"

The answer: psychiatry happened. And why would anyone perpetrate such a crime as to drug children and adults, driving them insane, all in the name of help? It's too horribly simple. It’s a multi-billion dollar business. The good news is that when society wakes up to these facts, we will cease to allow these evils to occur. It's time.

Tom Solari mailto:Solaritom@tomsolari.com

Tom Solari is a professional writer and video producer, living and working in Los Angeles. He is concerned about a culture that promotes chemical dependency as a solution to problems, when logic and the evidence shows that this approach deepens the problem by numbing the brain, muddling the mind and undermining the human spirit

If you want to help in a positive way, go to the volunteer ministers site to read how you can.

Scientology and Tom and Katy Cruise's Wedding

Scientology is really getting great press lately especially with Tom and Katy's wedding and the wonderful promotion of Human Rights (check out the videos on the YouthforHuman Rights.org site).

Here's a link to a video on the Scientology wedding of the Cruises.

What are human rights?

In the aftermath of the atrocities of World Wart II, the United Nations created the Universal Declaration of Human Rights 1948.

With all the political "noise" one hears, it is forgotten that the purpose of the United Nations was to bring peace to the world.

The United Nations formed a committee headed up by Eleanor Roosevelt, the wife of Franklin D. The result is the eloquent document, The Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

Now with 2006 technology and some brilliant filmwork, each of these human rights has been brought together on film and better yet, available online on streaming video.

If these don't bring tears to your eyes and make you want to "do something about it" well, then maybe it's time to check that ticker to see if it's got a beat.

Enjoy these.

Religious Bigotry

Was Sumner Redstone's break with Tom Cruise all business or also religious prejudice and bigotry?

Tom Cruise is a high profile member of The Church of Scientology and has spoken against psychiatry and overuse of pharmaceutical drugs especially on kids.

Here's an excerpt from a great article about the religious bigotry involved in this that is really worth a look.

"But in mocking adherents of any religion, you only mark yourselves as intolerant hypocrites.

I have a better idea. Not only are alternatives the right thing to do, they can end the domination of enriching oil interests in the middle east.

One organization that is now doing something about it is The Earth Organization which is bringing about awareness of the Eight Dynamics of Existence which as awareness spreads, will start people thinking and doing something about all parts of life.

It's time for each of us to start doing something about it.

Human Rights

There is a wonderful new program promoting human rights with incredible videos of each of the 30 human rights as developed and endorsed by The United Nations.

Check the videos at the human rights site.

I'm proud that The Church of Scientology is backing this program.

Why does Scientology Oppose Psychiatry?

Why is Scientology opposed to psychiatry?

As expressed on the Citizens Commission on Human Rights web site:

"When the victims of psychiatry had no rights and needed a voice. “Treatment” was brutal, its only purpose to create compliant patients. Patients were subjected to punitive electroshock—without anesthetic as punishment for “bad” behavior."

"Using lobotomies and other psychosurgical procedures, psychiatrists destroyed patients’ brains with callous disregard. Those under psychiatric “care” were mercilessly experimented upon with therapeutically unproven mind-altering drugs."

Scientologists by their creed believe
That all men of whatever race, color or creed were created with equal rights;
That all men have inalienable rights to their own religious practices and their performance;
That all men have inalienable rights to their own lives;
That all men have inalienable rights to their sanity;
That all men have inalienable rights to their own defense;

Psychiatry has demonstrated by its abuses that it is opposed to the right of sanity of others. It certainly takes away the ability to have one's own defense (do you think a mental patient has normal rights or is he or she subject to the whims of psychiatrists and their attendants). It even robs its victims of the right to live life. With this history comes the natural inclination, because of the fairness and decency of Scientologists and other informed individuals, to expose and oppose psychiatric abusive practices.

Manners

I read a great article by L. Ron Hubbard today on manners.

Mr. Hubbard talks in detail about what manners really are. This includes having a very good communication cycle i.e. getting your communication across and more importantly listening very well and acknowledging the other person you're listening to for what they have to say.

Along with good communication, including listening well! is seeing the importance of the other person. People are important and should be acknowledged for who and what they are and what they are doing. You can make great friends by being a good listener and seeing the importance of the person in front of you and what they are doing in life.

A third part of manners is observing the customs and "rituals" of a society. Yes, in our western culture we do have our customs and "niceties."

There have been best sellers written just on the successful actions of saying please and thank you and other good manners one of which was Robert Fulghum's " All I Really Need to Know I Learned in Kindergarten."

Good manners are a great step towards success. This article speaks to the fact that prominent Islamic scholars and leaders are opposed to the types of violence—many of them outspokenly so - that are being promoted by some extremists.

Extremists of any religion (or the fanatics against a religion) do not speak to the core beliefs of that religion. Here are some excerpts from that issue of Freedom Magazine:

Prominent Islamic scholars and leaders are opposed to such violence—many of them outspokenly so.

Harun Yahya (pen name of Adnan Oktar), Muslim intellectual and author of Islam Denounces Terrorism:

“Religion commands love, mercy and peace. Terror, on the other hand, is the opposite of religion; it is cruel, merciless and demands bloodshed and misery. This being the case, the origins of a terrorist act should be sought in disbelief rather than in religion.

“The name or the identity of the triggerman is not important. If he can kill innocent people without blinking an eye, then he is a nonbeliever, not a believer. He is a murderer with no fear of God, whose main ambition is to shed blood and to cause harm.”
Sheik Abdul Aziz al-Sheik, grand mufti of Saudi Arabia:

“Muslim youth must try and better themselves and their country but not through violence as Islam is not a violent religion, it is a merciful religion.”

Imam Wallace Dean Mohammed, spiritual leader of the American Society of Muslims:

On murdering innocents: “Most of the religious scholars in Islam condemn such. They say, and I say along with them, that there is no support anywhere in Islam—in our Holy Book or in the life of our Prophet—for such.”

On jihad or holy war: “Every sincere religious person knows that jihad ... simply means, if literally translated, ’struggle.’ Firstly, with yourself to conquer that which is taking you away from the good person or behavior that God wants for you....”

Sheik Mohammed Sayed Tantawi, grand sheik, Al-Azhar theological institute, Cairo:

“I do not subscribe to the idea of a clash among civilizations. People of different beliefs should cooperate and not get into senseless conflicts and animosity.

“Extremism is the enemy of Islam. Whereas, jihad is allowed in Islam to defend one’s land, to help the oppressed. Almost always they cause me to laugh out loud even when I'm alone which is funny in itself. The column below I also have ideas about what food I like to eat. I feel the same as Dave about lobsters, clams and oysters.

Why lobsters aren't food
BY DAVE BARRY
(This classic Dave Barry column was originally published on Jan. 26, 1996.)
I am pleased to report that the scientific community has finally stopped wasting time on the origins of the universe and started dealing with the important question, which is: Are lobsters really just big insects?
I have always maintained that they are. I personally see no significant difference between a lobster and, say, a giant Madagascar hissing cockroach, which is a type of cockroach that grows to approximately the size of William Howard Taft (1857-1930). If a group of diners were sitting in a nice restaurant, and the waiter were to bring them each a freshly killed, steaming-hot Madagascar hissing cockroach, they would not put on silly bibs and eat it with butter. No, they would run, retching, directly from the restaurant to the All-Nite Drive-Thru Lawsuit Center. And yet these very same people will pay $24.95 apiece to eat a lobster, despite the fact that it displays all three of the classic biological characteristics of an insect, namely:
1. It has way more legs than necessary.
2. There is no way you would ever pet it.
3. It does not respond to simple commands such as, ``Here, boy!''

I do not eat lobsters, although I once had a close call. I was visiting my good friends Tom and Pat Schroth, who live in Maine (state motto: ``Cold, But Damp''). Being generous and hospitable people, Tom and Pat went out and purchased, as a special treat for me, the largest lobster in the history of the Atlantic Ocean, a lobster that probably had been responsible for sinking many commercial vessels before it was finally apprehended by nuclear submarines. This lobster was big enough to feed a coastal Maine village for a year, and there it was, sprawling all over my plate, with scary insectoid legs and eyeballs shooting out in all directions, while Tom and Pat, my gracious hosts, smiled happily at me, waiting for me to put this thing in my mouth.
Remember when you were a child, and your mom wouldn't let you leave the dinner table until you ate all your Brussels sprouts, and so you took your fork and mashed them into smaller and smaller pieces in hopes of eventually reducing them to individual Brussels-sprout molecules that would be absorbed into the atmosphere and disappear? That was similar to the approach I took with the giant lobster.

''Mmmm-MMMM!'' I said, hacking away at the thing on my plate and, when nobody was looking, concealing the pieces under my dinner roll, in the salad, in my napkin, anywhere I could find.

Tom and Pat, I love you dearly, and if you should ever have an electrical problem that turns out to be caused by a seven-pound wad of old lobster pieces stuffed into the dining-room wall socket, I am truly sorry.

Anyway, my point is that lobsters have long been suspected, by me at least, of being closet insects, which is why I was very pleased recently when my alert journalism colleague Steve
Doig referred me to an Associated Press article concerning a discovery by scientists at the University of Wisconsin.

The article, headlined ''Gene Links Spiders and Flies to Lobsters,'' states that not only do lobsters, flies, spiders, millipedes, etc., contain the exact same gene, but they also are all descended from a single common ancestor: Howard Stern.

No, seriously, the article states that the ancestor ''probably was a wormlike creature.'' Yum! Fetch the melted butter!

And that is not all. According to articles sent in by alert readers (this was on the front page of The New York Times), scientists in Denmark recently discovered that some lobsters have a weird little pervert organism living on their lips. Yes. I didn't even know that lobsters had lips, but it turns out that they do, and these lips are the stomping ground of a tiny creature called Symbion pandora (literally, ``a couple of Greek words''). The zoology community, which does not get out a lot, is extremely excited about Symbion pandora, because it reproduces differently from all other life forms.

According to various articles, when Symbion pandora is ready to have a baby, its digestive system ''collapses and is reconstituted into a larva,'' which the parent then gives birth to by ''extruding'' it from its ''posterior.'' In other words -- correct me if I am wrong here -- this thing basically reproduces by pooping.

So to summarize: If you're looking for a hearty entree that 1) is related to spiders, 2) is descended from a worm and 3) has mutant baby-poopers walking around on its lips, then you definitely want a lobster. I myself plan to continue avoiding them, just as I avoid oysters, which are clearly -- scientists should look into this next -- members of the phlegm family. Have you ever seen oysters reproduce? Neither have I, but I would not be surprised to learn that the process involves giant undersea nostrils.

And don't get me started on clams. Recently, I sat across from a person who was deliberately eating clams. She'd open up a shell, and there, in plain view, would be this stark naked clam, brazenly showing its organs, like a high-school biology experiment. My feeling is that if a restaurant is going to serve those things, it should put little loincloths on them.

I believe that Mother Nature gave us eyes because she did not want us to eat this type of food. Mother Nature clearly intended for us to get our food from the ''patty'' group, which includes hamburgers, fish sticks and McNuggets -- foods that have had all of their organs safely removed someplace far away, such as Nebraska. That is where I stand on this issue, and if any qualified member of the lobster, clam or phlegm-in-a-shell industry wishes to present a rebuttal, I hereby extend this offer: Get your own column.

What's really important

Albert Einstein said: "I know not with what weapons World War III will be fought but World War IV will be fought with sticks and stones."

What is Scientology really all about and what will it accomplish? First, forget about the BS media and few ranters who either don't have the intelligence or comprehension to absorb what this subject is about or even worse the ones that just don't want things or you to get better and be happier.

Then know that really and truly if you study this subject with a good heart, apply the brilliant knowledge to be gained honestly then you will improve, act more ethically and care more about (and do something about) yourself, your family and your planet. I guess when real people meet Tom Cruise they get a take on the real guy unlike what some "sensationalists" in the media like to write (make up?).

Here's what that article says in part: ....mother and daughter were both surprised when Cruise walked to their table and spoke to them."He thought we were French at first," Green said. "He said ‘bonjour,’ and I said ‘bonjour,’ and when he asked where we were from I said ‘les Etats-Unis.’"

"He seemed pretty happy that we were Americans, and that he could talk to us," Czarnecki said. "So he shook our hands, and asked us where we were from. We asked if we could take a picture with him and he said yes. ..he was really nice. Very down-to-earth.

"Cruise was in Paris in late April to promote his new movie, "Mission: Impossible III," and, according to press reports, to shop for baby clothes. His fiancee, Katie Holmes, and their then week-old daughter, Suri, stayed home in Los Angeles. While Cruise and his entourage were in the café, the staff would not allow any new customers in. So Green and Czarnecki were the only other customers in the café. The whole time we were eating, people were just looking in the window and using their camera phones, trying to get a picture [of Cruise], Czarnecki said."We didn’t talk to him anymore after that," Green said. We kept looking over, but we didn’t want to bother him while he was eating with his kids."

For the past few months, Cruise has been the subject of extensive media coverage and controversy focusing on his Scientologist beliefs and his relationship with Holmes. But Czarnecki believes such coverage doesn’t tell the whole story.

Mickey Mantle and Tom Cruise

Some of my happiest moments as a young guy were going to Yankee games with my father to see my Yankees - especially my hero, Mickey Mantle. Mickey was a true hero and living legend- a great athlete, adored (mostly) by the fans and larger than life in his success.

I remember being dumbfounded sometimes at the games when "The Mick" was booed after he took a mighty swipe and struck out. This little 10 year old was ready to stand up to the 60,000 fans and yell "shut up!" How dare they treat this great hero that way!

Years later, as an adult, I had the good fortune to meet Mickey in person. He was just what I pictured, good natured and joking with a twinkle in his eye. We laughed when I told him he was my idol as a kid and he said "Am I that old?"

The booing of a hero reminds me in a way of what Tom Cruise has been subjected to. Here is a guy who truly has a twinkle in his eye, who has made himself a star and enjoys incredible success. Yet the media has field day with him. What was his sin? Success? Being in love and showing it? Having improved himself to become a better person through Scientology? Or could it just be that by speaking against abusive prescription drugs he has raised the ire of the multi-billion big pharmaceutical interests and started their media juggernaut.

It couldn't be that the media who receive billions in advertising prozac, paxil, zoloft and 12 hour cialis erections might throw some money into a black pr campaign against a well known celebrity speaking against their profit interests could it?

Mickey was my hero and Tom is a hero to me now too - Now that he has stood up to these vested interests who try to turn our planet into Brave New World and and yet Tom still succeeds and wins, all the while keeping that genuine smile on his face. You go Tom!

Improving your Golf Game

I played golf today which is one of the most enjoyable things I do.

This is probably a subject that has not been written about a lot ----How Scientology can help your golf game.

Well, here are a few things that you need to play golf:
1. The ability to understand information
2. The ability to differentiate false from true data
3. The ability to focus
4. The ability to remain unrattled when under pressure
5. Enjoyment of a good time outside with friends

Each of these abilities is assisted and enhanced with Scientology.

1. and 2. The study courses of Scientology help you (and definitely helped me) to enjoy learning and increase your ability to absorb and assimilate information. There is so much information about the golf swing and golf techniques that one can become confused and even "freeze up" . Those of us who play golf have seen this and you may have even experienced it. The information and drills of study discovered by L. Ron Hubbard can help you differentiate what works and what doesn't and to understand the different methods, techniques and teachings of the good golf teachers and books and even who's good and knows what they're talking about.

3. and 4. The ability to focus and remain unrattled under pressure is enhanced by the communication drills and practice of Scientology.

5. Enjoying your life and having a good time with friends also increases through Scientology. If your cares are less, if you worry less, it's just easier to just have a good time.

By the way, it doesn't hurt to have good equipment and to get a new driver that you like. I got the new Cleveland High Bore Driver and it's straighter and longer than any I've had before.

Enlighten the people generally and tyranny and oppressions of body and mind will vanish.

The title of this post is from Thomas Jefferson. The brilliant Mr. Jefferson was a great observer of life and as a great observer of life could then take his knowledge and be an architect of the most successful nation in history.

As a student of Scientology I, like other Scientologists, have learned to observe and understand life more and more with integrity. Like most people, I am in agreement with Mr. Jefferson's quote that people should be enlightened and if then enlightened. (able to understand and observe better and better) then the world gets better, one person at a time.

What is meant by observation?

Well, to observe is see, to look at directly without prejudice or preconceived notions. When you can do that it ties directly into one's own personal integrity. With individuals gaining personal integrity through their own conclusions base on observation - each person becomes better.

Here's what philosopher L. Ron Hubbard says in part about Personal Integrity:

"WHAT IS TRUE FOR YOU is what you have observed yourself and when you lose that you have lost everything.

What is personal integrity?Personal integrity is knowing what you know–What you know is what you know–And to have the courage to know and say what you have observed.

And that is integrity.

And there is no other integrity. "

To read the rest of this essay you can go to the full essay entitled, "Personal Integrity"

As an aside, if you're wondering What Scientology is, try observing directly by reading the Scientology sites or reading Mr. Hubbard's books. If you do, you may be on your way to the personal enlightenment that Thomas Jefferson refers to.

Scientology Fundamentals of Thought

A great book to learn directly about Scientology(as opposed to 2nd hand opinions) is Scientology Fundamentals of Thought . It is the only thing that can show you who you really are.

"The technology is therefore not expounded as something to believe but something to do."
—L. Ron Hubbard

Even with the vast amounts of technology and science available to man, many have felt powerless to stop the decay and decline seen all around us. A family torn by drug abuse. A broken marriage. The decline of our cities and neighborhoods. The rise of illiteracy. The destruction of the environment. The threat of war.

What is missing?

Simply put, man has not had a real understanding of LIFE itself, how it works and how to make it better.

In the book Scientology: The Fundamentals of Thought, you get to know the basic principles of Scientology which are in essence the basic principles of LIFE itself.

Equipped with this book alone, one can bring about positive changes in the states of health, ability and intelligence. No such knowledge previously existed, and no such results were ever attainable as those which can be reached by a study of this volume. This book should be read by someone with an inquiring nature, or by any who aspire to a better life. Study this volume carefully and apply it and a better life can result. This book contains more than theories—it includes exact techniques anyone can immediately apply.

In this book you will discover:

The actual laws of understanding and how to use them to improve communication with others.

The three conditions of existence that comprise life and how these affect a person’s ability to
enjoy it. The anatomy of problems and how to resolve them. The eight basic urges in life and how by not having them in alignment can bring about your downfall. How to treat life as a game—and win. The three classes of universes and how these influence you. If you disagree with how things are, if you want a better life, then this book will take you on a journey where there is no limit to what you can accomplish, no end to what you can achieve.

Book Features:
Paperback format 198 pages Full glossary included Detailed subject index Results from others who have read the book:

"Sometimes in life achieving a goal large or small can seem very complex and possibly there are
barriers to accomplishment. After having studied the entire book Scientology: The Fundamentals of Thought I found I was able to play the game of life, knowing with certainty that things would turn out right—and that's exactly what happened!... I was able to improve my relationship with my husband, my parents and my son through understanding them better. My work became not just easier, but more enjoyable. I was able to enjoy being with people so much more and better deal with even difficult circumstances. Best of all, I am in a much better position to help others." —T.L.

"I happened upon the book Scientology: The Fundamentals of Thought one day in a bookstore, stayed up all night reading it and my life has not been the same since. I immediately saw how I had a problem relating to others in many cases, and with the materials L. Ron Hubbard presented in the book I was able to improve the way I deal with other people which has made them and me a lot happier." —M.T.

Played in the Dianetics Golf Tournament Today

Had a great day today. Scientology is such a large and embracing subject and because it is so extensive it is hard to explain to someone in a 30 second "sound bite."

Upon reflection, though, a phrase did come to mind that might help someone understand the subject: "Changing your future by understanding your history."

It reminded me of the quote; "Those who ignore history are doomed to repeat it." from philosopher George Santayana." My father told me that quote when I was a young guy when I asked him why we study history. Dad amplified upon the quote by explaining to me that we studied history to to learn from the mistakes, failures and the successes of the past so we can have a better future.

That concept is analogous, in my opinion, to what one does in Scientology and it describes what it has done for me.. I have had experiences, as you have, some bad, some good, some downright exhilerating and some sad or even disastorous. What has happened through the processes of Scientology for me is an understanding of what has happened. These processes and information on the courses has allowed me to "not ignore my personal history" and "not be doomed to repeat my mistakes."

Also, I have re-experienced the pleasurable and successful times in my life which rehabilitates the view that I'm a strong and able person.

These processes and training are the "tools" that I believe Tom Cruise was referring to when he said Scientology has tools to improve one's life.

In an elementary, yet powerful example in the book Self Analysis by L. Ron Hubbard, the author demonstrates and helps the reader by recalling selected pleasurable instances from one's past.

I heartily recommend Self Analysis to you as a way tobegin your understanding of your history so as to change your future for the better.

Surround yourself with people who make you feel great and avoid those who belittle your ambitions

I read a great entry today on the blog www.justthinkforyourself.blogspot.com . It's about people of good will .

My experience with Scientology is that those people who get involved and stay involved are people who have a strong and real intent to see their life and the lives of those they care about, and on a larger scale, the race of human beings become better and have more fulfilling lives. It's really that simple.

A great tip is the quote from Mark Twain that I brought up in an earlier blog entry from Mark Twain:
"Keep away from people who try to belittle your ambitions. Small people always do that, but the really great make you feel that you, too, can become great."

Surround yourself with those people who make you feel great and avoid those who belittle you or your ambitions.

Mark Twain - Brilliance

Having studied Scientology for years I'm always surprised at the vehemence and downright nastiness of some people who don't like it.

Having been a fan of Mark Twain and his wit for years I thought I'd let a couple of Mr. Samuel Clemens' quotes speak to that subject.

Keep away from people who try to belittle your ambitions. Small people always do that, but the really great make you feel that you, too, can become great.
Mark Twain (the pen name for Samuel Clemens)

Those who study Scientology are trying to make their lives better and the lives of those around them better - simple. This gets some people nuts - what a sad statement about those who would criticize individuals working on living better and more honest lives.

Here are two places to learn about how Scientology helps: volunteerministers.org and The Center for the study of new religions

The Way to Happiness

One of my favorite books is The Way to Happiness. It's amazing the effect that this short book of wisdom can cause.

It was written by L. Ron Hubbard but is not religious or part of Scientology. Even though it's not part of Scientology, most Scientologists have read it and use the ideas for better living and how they act towards others. In fact, if you want to get an idea of what a Scientologist is like, I can think of no better way of learning other than meeting Scientologists than reading the book. You can get a free e-copy of the book at The Way to Happiness site.

It has been distributed in a total of 9ver 65 million people by individuals, companies and by schools and government leaders.

Here's what one reader wrote as posted on twth.org:

Dear Sirs,
There is not a problem facing the world today that this little book of common sense cannot solve. It can be used to run a household or a business. Governments can be lead by it! The tone of a nation could be set by it.

And if I were to run a school, a college, or any form of instruction or teaching of others, it would be a mandatory course!

It is without question, the most powerful non-religious book in the world and I would challenge anyone to bring a problem of life to me that I cannot solve with this book!

Off to Disneyland

Coming up next weekend, my wife and I are taking our daughter to Disneyland along with 10 other of her friends for her birthday. Would it be better to have a bunch of confusion, noise yak yak around the birth?

It's great that the information about a gentle and calm environment around birth is getting out - what it shows is the kindness, caring and love for the next generation that Mr. Hubbard wrote about in Dianetics.

What the Scientology site says about silent birth is: " Having a quiet, gentle birth is all about providing the best possible environment for the birthing mother and her new baby.
It is labor and delivery done in a calm and loving environment and with no-spoken words by everyone attending as much as possible. Chatty doctors and nurses, shouts to “PUSH, PUSH” and loud or laughing remarks to “encourage” are the types of things that are meant to be avoided."

That seems reasonable doesn't it.

Also, there are great and helpful things one can do to help a child or infant that you can read about and use on the volunteerministers.org site. Also, a new site silentbirth.org

When there's a lot of noise about something. Learn the facts and then - do the right thing and think for yourself.
